Harry was more than just an interpreter. He was a friend, taking care of me inside as well as outside of the club. His presence had a positive effect on my performance on the pitch by boosting my morale and allowing me to talk to someone who understands the dynamics between players, coaches and other teammates. This shielded me from a lot of negative pressure.

For me Harry was indispensable, both on and off the pitch. Without him as my interpreter, I wouldn’t have been able to navigate all the practicalities in a foreign country such as opening a bank account, having a mobile line or renting an apartment. But also, on an everyday basis in the club, Harry was always there to help me understand tactics, coaches and teammates. Without Harry as an interpreter, I wouldn’t have known where to start.

Harry’s been nothing but amazing. For a player coming from a different country, it means the world to have an interpreter who speaks the same language and understands the local culture. Not only was Harry there to help me find my way, he was also a friendly and familiar voice which helps when starting in a new club under a new coach with new team mates. Honestly, looking back at everything right now, without Harry I wouldn’t have stayed here as long as I am planning right now. He made things so much more comfortable for me and my family.

Having Harry as an interpreter helped me a lot. In our job it’s all about communication. It’s so important to have someone who helps you understand what the coach says and expects from you. But it also helps in communication with the fans, the media, and the interviews. Thanks to Harry I was able to express myself and to understand what the media is talking about. I believe every international football player should have an interpreter. It helps to adapt easily so you as a player can focus on the game.
